He opened the door and stepped into
the darkened room. The
furnishing was sparse, containing only two chairs, which sat
across the room from each other.
In one, he could see the silhouette of a man.
As his eyes fell for the first time on the man who might
soon own him,
Brandon
drew in a quick breath. He
was magnificent. Old
world charm oozed from his face as well as a hint of a cruel
smile that curled his lips.
Here was a man bred to take charge, to lead, to command.
He was everything
Brandon
had always hoped to find in a lover.
His eyes subtly looked over the
vampire, admiring him as he walked toward his possible fate.
He could feel his heart racing at the urge to sink to his
knees, unzip the vampire's slacks and suck his cock deep into
his throat. The
impulse was so strong, he licked his lips in anticipation.

The fingertips traced down his neck,
pausing at the collar of his shirt.
He felt the rush of air brush across his neck.
Without warning, he grasped both sides of Nicholas' shirt
and pulled, tearing the buttons off and baring his chest.
His heart racing, Nicholas clenched
his muscles, forcing himself to stand still.
"Very good.
I see you haven't forgotten your training."
The man paused, and Nicholas imagined him gazing at his
naked chest. "Now,
finish undressing."
The leather creaked again as the man
regained his seat.
Nervous, Nicholas raised his hands to
his waist. He
unbuckled his belt and pulled it free of his pants.
While he unzipped his jeans, he kicked off his shoes.
He shimmied out of his jeans, kicking them and his boxers
aside, then stood naked before the unseen dominant.

Four men, two
beginnings and one ending with a single thing in common: the
Blood Slave bond. This volume contains two short
stories with an intertwined theme and a quick jaunt to the
darker side of love.
Man
has discovered that Vampires really do go bump in the night and,
as a collective whole, Man is not pleased. A weapon
to destroy the Vampires is employed with the end result being
Vampires’ new need for Blood Slaves now that they are a
protected race.
In
“Where the Blind Leads,”
Brandon
has undergone the necessary steps to become a glorified
seeing-eye-dog, a source of sustenance, and a sex toy to a
Dominant vampire. Will his craving for a little
blood sport with his submission land him a caring new Master
capable of fulfilling his wildest dreams, or leave him running
out the nearest door and back to his old life?
In
“Leading the Blind,” Nicholas is a former Blood
Slave who has succumbed to the slow transformation of the
vampiric virus. A true submissive faced with the
task of dominating others, Nicholas may just find his salvation
in the “unorthodox” solution cooked up by his old Master.
Ms.
Houston’s teasingly short offering in Blood Slave is
like a “sample” box of decadent dark-chocolate bonbons:
decidedly delicious, infinitely edible and entirely too small
despite its delivery of great satisfaction. She
takes a hardcore aspect of BDSM and gives it enough purpose to
bring the whole scene to the “light side” of the spectrum.
The four heroes are developed with lightening speed (and
a smattering of details) into men in which I find myself fully
invested by the middle of each of their stories. Her
concise yet, somehow, lush peeks into the workings of the
characters’ minds are all the direction my imagination needed
to set the stage and pull me into the middle of the action.
Ms. Houston demonstrates a definite understanding of what
it takes to execute a perfect short story. She does
it beautifully.
Those
with week constitutions and squeamish stomachs should avoid
these two tales as they do involve pain and bloodletting by
mutual consent; after all, vampires are involved. If
you are one of those readers who is offended by either same sex
love or love play involving pain, please do us all the favor of
skipping this book and finding something on the tamer side.
I promise we will still respect you in the morning and we
will not call you names.
